DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION

Phil began his career in 1989 at McWhorter’s a Northern California Stationary Company managing their Facilities, Renovations and Construction. From there he moved to Black Angus Restaurants where he did the same role. In 2004 Phil started at Starbucks Coffee in the Facilities Department. Over the next 12 years he progressed to Construction Manger then Real Estate Manager and Existing Store Director. Eventually he became the Director of Store Development overseeing a team that that was responsible for executing 100’s of Renovations, Relocations, Leases, New Stores and Lease Renewals yearly.

 

After a short-lived retirement Phil joined Stanford University R&DE Housing & Dinning in the Capital and Facility Planning Dept. In that role he partnered in creating the 50-year strategic reinvestment and project planning for the University. Prior to joining Cal Gold Construction Corp in 2026 Phil was the Vice President of Facilities for BJ’s Restaurants overseeing a portfolio of 219 restaurants.

 

In his current role as Director of Construction he leads the Project Managers, Project Supervisors and Project Coordinators while supporting our Leadership, Development Team and Property Managers.

 

After years of moving and traveling for work Phil and his wife Tina now live on a ranch in Tuolumne County with their family and many farm animals. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with their adult children, fishing and camping. They are also members of Sierra Bible Church in Sonora.
